There’s a senator in the HBO Watchmen series that instantly reminded me of Hawley, and considering how that character turns out I feel that my first impression of him was correct.

I think Cotton’s more sincerely awful, while Hawley’s more opportunistically/performatively awful? But there are certainly striking similarities.
