Just finished up A Pale View of Hills from Kazuo Ishiguro. From the description I thought it'd be more depressing, due to how detached the main character recollects the past it feels almost clinical. It's a good character study and the twist is telegraphed early but still had a good reveal, (1/3)

Off on our big train adventure. The other passengers on our sleeping car are an odd bunch. A loud guy who looks like a crook, a Swedish missionary, a Russian princess and her German maid. Also a strange little man with an egg-shaped head and a funny mustache. I think he’s French.

One time I asked ChatGPT to generate some code. It gave me complete dogshit which didn't even compile, so I paste just the error message and nothing else. It then responded with an entire paragraph praising "my" code, followed by hyping me up telling me how close I am to getting it perfect.
You know how billionaires end up with severe cognitive deficits as a result of becoming surrounded by yes men who constantly tell them their every idea is genius? What if we made a bot that just does that to everyone. I think that would be a good idea.
