“Critical Spirit” — Dayton Moore, former Kansas City Royals General Manager
Pinned
An open letter from Royals Chairman and CEO John Sherman
Committed to the bit of talking like Frank Sinatra in the “It’s Brisk, Baby!” iced tea commercial all day and had to eat Thanksgiving dinner alone in the garage with an aggressive raccoon.

My review of the new Stranger Things season, which I have not watched yet:

Why is everyone shouting? Who is that kid? What’s that guy’s deal? Am I suppose to remember something about Eggo waffles? How can Winona Ryder bug her eyes out that much?

Working on my Hallmark version of Moneyball script. Tagline: "How can you not be romantic about baseball?"
is there a Hallmark/sports movie where the level of sports knowledge isn’t generic slop?

You're the smartest guy I ever met... and you're too stupid to see... he made up his mind ten minutes ago, Charlie Brown.
Oh, just one more thing, Charlie Brown.
We all float down here, Charlie Brown

Great job Google AI. Looking forward to your technology replacing my orthopedic surgeon.

Turned over just in time to see UCLA do the dumbest botched fake FG returned for a TD ever.

How come no one talks about Dinosaur Train anymore?

Today might be the only time I’ve ever asked what channel is the UAB game on.

I sincerely hope Zoe Saldana and Jeff Bridges are getting all the money.

We're wasting a Hawaii game on a Friday night? At least it's After Dark.

Poster boy for the difference between hitting in the minors and MLB. The bat looked like it could play at first but went the wrong direction. Positional change didn't help.

At least there's always the memory of the first time watching him make a play in RF and literally muttering "WTF was that?"

It's funny how seemingly every British movie includes at least a passing reference to the fact that the lead character was (or is still) in love with their best friend's partner, if not the best friend themself.

I was in middle school the first time a dude tried to sell me weed on the street. He kept using increasingly silly sounding slang terms I didn't recognize. After my fifth "huh?" he exasperatingly sighs "pot, you know, marijuana" before giving up. He must have had the dealer version of this poster.
I just found this old picture of a poster that was on the wall at the school my friend taught at and there’s some incredible stuff in there

That was fast. But I had them pegged for Jason Foley.

HBO also picked up a second season of Mare of Easttown with Peter Dinklage taking over the lead role from Kate Winslet.
HBO is going back to Pennsylvania for a second season of #Task. The drama starring Mark Ruffalo has become a word-of-mouth hit: bit.ly/484ZZmu

Finishing Stranger Things feels more like a chore or obligation. And the way the show has played fast and loose with its rules, nothing will seem definitive even if someone dies. The show can always bring them back for the revival in 5-10 years.

Not sure if still ubiquitous, but every diner in MSP at one point had a variation on the Uptowner’s Cajun Breakfast, a platter of hash browns, onions, peppers, mushrooms, and andouille sausage, topped with cheddar cheese, over-easy eggs, hollandaise, and “Cajun” spices — no hangover required.
I want everyone to post their hometown slop (if you don't have a cuisine that qualifies then your town has zero culture).

Skyline is fine and hits at 3 am just like taco bell lol

It was funny when all of the football and basketball writers became apoplectic when they lost their baseball hall of fame vote even though it had been 25+ years since their first job as nominally the A's beat writer for the Modesto Bee or some such.
One thing I think people haven't quite realized yet about the HOF is how different the electorate could be, not just the players. Guessing a few dozen new voters come online this year, and some are aging out. That alone changes perspectives and voting totals considerably.

There's still work to be done (especially with retooling Wendi McLendon-Covey's character), but St. Denis has improved. Less mockumentary, less off-putting characters, and a much better handle on their traits and relationships, with Allison Tolman and David Alan Grier stabilizing the core.
