probably should have realized this would be a magnet for nader dead-ender obnoxious dipshits, but i am always surprised when they turn up loud and unashamed 25 years later
i don't think that bush v. gore is the *worst* ruling in the history of the supreme court, but i do think it is the most openly *corrupt* ruling in its history. a real disgrace.

yes, the linear passage of time, you dumb motherfucker, an entire decade passed between bush v gore and citizens united and citizens united was decided by a majority led by a chief justice nominated by GWB who always would have ruled it this way, this is not fucking hard to understand
guy lied to both his donors and voters about what he actually intended to do and probably handed the election to bush in the process and has spent the last quarter century being an absolutely impenetrable shithead about it, providing a permission structure for lolnothingmatters low-info dickheads

you do not hate or blame ralph nader enough for the last quarter century of dysfunction
relatedly, ralph nader deserves to be remembered for the rest of time as someone who voluntarily assisted in a critical attack on american democracy, the importance of which far outweighs any of his consumer advocacy

rape culture teaches men to lead empty lives where they believe they’re so fundamentally unlovable at their core that they can only simulate the experience of being sincerely desired by cultivating power and leveraging it to obtain simulated, insincere romance through manipulation and coercion

it is both true that giving orders to state police w/r/t ICE gets extremely dangerous for state governors and also true that the job of activists is to push those governors regardless
@govpritzker.illinois.gov I want you to watch this video of me slammed to the ground- why are you allowing this to happen to people you know are on the right side of history. They tied my hands behind my back and when I asked them to be loosened because I was going numb they said, “STFU.”
at one point, i watched a cook county sheriff’s officer (who appears to be in charge) point out a priest in the crowd.
he and a couple officers then went into the crowd , dragged him into the street, and arrested him.
situation is still tense as crowd jostles with police to get into the street.

Nobody has ever done anything interesting or unexpected with the culture of the Predators onscreen, that they probably aren't ever going to, and I think I've just made my peace with it

bush v gore is the hinge upon which basically everything awful from the last quarter century swings on

a huge reason the auto industry cannot hire all the mechanics they need is lack of access to the technical education anyone needs to become an automotive technician! cost of this education & failure by corporations to train workers - also a huge factor.

this is true for basically all tradeswork, employers aren’t willing to pay enough for the training to make it worth it
this is most of why I don’t think he’s on a path to personalist consolidation. it’s pretty clear that people don’t like his jackbooted thugs and he appears wholly uninterested in and uncommitted to actually delivering anything else.

at the end of the day, the people who voted for Trump thought he was going to help them. the reality of his presidency is constant normalized corruption and setting policy based on who his buddies and enemies are. there’s always been tension there.
she's a little like massie in that i think 99% of her principles are awful but she does seem to actually have some she's stand for

FWIW, governors are in a much tougher spot than people realize when it comes to ordering state police to impede ICE, as in “insurrection act territory.”

man, what the fuck is in these files that would a) be worse than anything we have ever learned about him, b) make him willing to risk a maga civil war over it, and c) have him desperately calling half of the republicans in the house and begging them to vote against their release
Trump on Epstein Files: I don’t want to talk about it because fake news like you—you’re a terrible reporter—fake news like you just keeps bringing up to deflect from the tremendous success of The Trump Admin

one of the things the epstein emails confirms is that he was a meathead dilettante dipshit, which draws a lot of questions about how he made his actual money — we have speculation about this, but no definitive answers, i think
