🚨 A few thoughts on Tesla Gross Margin

In the Q4 earnings report, Tesla #$TSLA surprised analysts by reporting a 3.4% increase in automotive gross margin from Q3. This was achieved despite an overall decrease in sales of 16%. So how did that happen?

1/ Delaware Supreme Court just released its opinion in Tornetta v. Musk. It's a big win for Elon Musk (though not for Tesla shareholders).

The opinion is "per curiam" (by the Court, rather than signed by any particular justice).

Tesla's car biz (worth only $78 per share vs Tesla's current price of $402) is imploding.

Overseas sales in Oct were -33%, the lowest start of Q4 sales on record.

US EV sales at carmakers reporting monthly sales were -71% MoM & -49% YoY after Sept EV rush.

$UNP donated to the Trump ballroom. Smart move. When it comes time for the STP to rule on the deal, it will be loaded with Trump goons. Deal goes through - massive new coast-to-coast quasi-monopoly. Deal fails - stonk scraping lows and $20B+ cash for buybacks and such. DYODD, not advice etc.

When Enron collapsed, taking Arthur Andersen (then one of The Big Five accounting firms) with them the two big issues were:
1. Enron’s corporate culture which was dependent on the value of their shares always going up.
And
2. Their Mark-to-Market bookkeeping system
