Ugh, the prospect of GPU prices rising because of the extreme RAM price increases has got me thinking I should just pick up the best Black Friday deal I can get on a 5070 ti.

I dusted off my old gaming desktop, that I initially built in 2013, and threw Bazzite on it. 4770k, 2x8gb DDR3, GTX 1070. Installed a bunch of old/lightweight Steam games on it and, gotta tell ya, I am shocked at how many things run just fine at 4k on this geriatric build.
Also, Bazzite is neat.

I am learning so much about subtitles because of this.
Now that I have a VR headset I can use on PC, I tried out VRChat for the first time. It was pretty neat. I feel like there's a thousand things going on in the menus but I just wandered and that was nice.

A texture decompression mod, REframework, directstorage mod, tweaks in Special K, very careful video settings choices, DLSS, and FSR framegen may've finally been enough to get this running *okay* at 1080p on my 3080. Finally, the stuttery mess is (mostly) gone. I may actually start playing again!
