Just a woman living in Australia doomscrolling through the climate crisis, misogyny and the plague while trying to appreciate beauty and humour and raise well adjusted offspring. Also I like novels and I'm heaps traumatised.

A couple was arguing in the building next to ours. Their windows were open. Dude was being a real asshole for a good ten minutes. His gf finally just snaps and yells, "Y'know what? You have a little dick, and you use it badly."

The silence. Good god. The silence. I assume he is dead now.

...reckoning - whether Epstein was involved directly or not - on how these people got the power to shout down the world's top scientific experts, and blow our best chance to contain COVID.

This is no tempest in a teapot - they decided to hand-wash away an airborne pathogen, now we pay the price.
Happy International Women's Day!

A reminder that this specific screwup has now killed ~25 million people.

A world that allows an influential, entitled, ignorant man to just shout down a smarter and more knowledgeable woman 👉can literally kill you.👈

ICE just tear-gassed the shit out of the entirely peaceful union protest here in Portland. Children. Elderly. Thousands of people exercising our First Amendment rights.

Today in history, 1939: Hitler delivers a major address to the German Reichstag at the Kroll Opera House to mark the sixth anniversary of his rise to power. The speech is most famous for Hitler’s “prophecy” regarding the fate of European Jews in the event of a future conflict. /1

Minneapolis replies: "Hey asshole, you're going to need a bigger fucking database."

Hanson was a Liberal in the Howard mould. He said nothing about Hanson and only started putting her last as a tactical measure (not a pushback on policies) after the 1998 Qld election scare. He embraced her polices - which were variations of his One Australia platform
Just your regular reminder that John Howard never pushed back against Pauline Hanson and One Nation policies. He embraced them, which is how he outflanked them, while also setting the stage for what the Liberals are today. The myth that he 'pushed back' truly needs to die.

Did you know baby shampoo is mild enough, when used with water, to rinse eyes if they've been sprayed? Like when walking on or around ICE?

We need to be careful and listen to this ophthalmologist about pepper spray.

We gotta really hammer this point home right now, when people are most receptive to it - you cannot have empire or colonialism abroad and freedom at home, they are incompatible. If you allow people oversees to be attacked and exploited, those same tactics WILL eventually be used on you.
This is so unhinged

Once upon a time, a white liberal man who claimed to love me told I was being “hysterical” when Donald Trump won and forwarded me articles about why he couldn’t do things he was already doing.

I no longer talk to that person. They refused to see their own privilege.

The end.
