I find it funny (not funny haha, funny weird) that I went years fighting burnout, enduring a global pandemic and my dad's death without gaining weight but the moment i try to get my crap together and my stupid brother dies, I gain weight

Being a 3-d person is weird, man

Want to avoid AI writing? Turns out Wikipedia has the answer
The best guide to spotting AI writing comes from Wikipedia | TechCrunch
Wikipedia's guide to “Signs of AI writing” is a great resource for learning to spot LLM-generated prose.

No. The Thing is a movie about a bunch of people who all distrust and hate each other trapped in one building as the tension between them slowly builds until it reaches a breaking point. It's a Thanksgiving movie.

Can't believe they announced who it was and no one told me. It was Nelly Furtado, which is absolutely who I thought it was gonna be. My second guess was Avril but they weren't going to induct two pop-punk acts back to back after Sum 41 this year
odds for the Canadian Music Hall of Fame's next inductee:
most likely: Avril Lavigne, Nelly Furtado, Michael Buble, Simple Plan
mid-tier: Sloan or Matthew Good or one of those only-in-Canada acts
dark horse: Feist, Rufus Wainwright
guaranteed induction if she finally agrees to show up: Celine Dion

*Stands up* We talk about how often people put raisins or pumpkin spice where they don't belong but the real menace is peppermint. STOP PUTTING PEPPERMINT EVERYWHERE, IT'S WEIRD AND UNSETTLING!!!
my take on Food Discourse is that it's always ridiculous but it's also nice to be fighting about dumb internet shit again instead of dealing with Oppressive Despair all the time so please keep posting your bad takes

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

To be clear, I don't use Claude (or any other "AI"/LLM) for any part of my writing process, either for personal or commercial work. I check in on them on a fairly regular basis to see how the latest iterations function, so I can understand the state of the field and speak non-ignorantly about it.

(A) stop feeling pressure to be perfect;
(B) normalize asking questions, because that is normalizing learning;
(C) do not ask AI if your turkey is done; ask a meat thermometer
This is so soulless, I can't stand it. We have BRAINS. We can USE THEM.

So turns out the reason why it's called a disability is because.....it's DISABLING....

Yeah, I had to remember that after struggling not to throw up while washing a particularly gross jar and then disposing of the contents (I owe mom a new sink strainer. I just chucked it)

For me, a casserole is minimal cooking before you dump a bunch of stuff in a pan, stir, slap some cheese on top and slide in the oven.

Shepards pie *can* classify as a casserole but I feel like that would like calling a wolf a dog
What’s casserole?

Seriously, I’ve never eaten one in my life.

Is a lasagna a casserole? How about a shepherd’s pie?
