Americans are not at all ready for the full scale mainstreaming of literal fascists now that media has been retooled as a weapon of anti democracy and fascist consolidation.

The fascist machinery will fire anyone critical of the fascist takeover and boost those who are willing to capitulate.

Objecting to AI on legal grounds is a waste of time because the law is owned by whoever has the money to pay for it. Object to AI because it's an affront to the human spirit, because it produces objective garbage, and because it's a massive waste of energy (machine and biological).

Tom Lehrer died today. He was one of the great comedians our culture ever produced. Without Tom, there's no Weird Al, probably no that entire branch of comedy.

He went alone and beat the odds.

Why the f’ck should I pay taxes?

If y'all don't start learning to think in Systems I dont think we're gonna make it.

Every problem we have is interconnected. We have to stop trying to distil this into categories and understand this is a polycrisis.

There are very few 'small issues' b/c they ultimately feed back into the system.

While writing There Is No Place for Us, what I wanted most was for readers to feel the fury I carried throughout my reporting—the outrage, the horror at what this country forces our neighbors to endure.

This review by @lilysanca.bsky.social says everything I hoped the book would convey, and more:
You’re Not Angry Enough About Homelessness in America
Homelessness is increasingly caused by soaring rents and low wages, not laziness or personal failures. The solution is strong government intervention to house everyone and to end landlords’ control ov...

If the solution don’t work, dump more money into it. Just like promoting killer cops or giving them raises. The 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 is the problem, the co-conspirator, the murderer’s ally, their attorney, and it’s because of the state that these crimes committed by cops, continue.
Trying to get over yesterday’s NYT article. We have lowest violent crime rates since 1968, fascists building Gestapo/concentration camps, and NYT is telling liberal readers that “experts” can conceive of only “two” policies to stop murder, more cops and Orwellian surveillance.
The thesis of the article is that because American cops are so terrible at solving murder (and getting much much worse than they used to be), "experts" believe the U.S. must spend massively more money on hiring police and surveillance.
