if "age verification" becomes mandatory country-wide, it's basically game over for CURSE/KISS/CUTE. i can't afford to contract some shady third party to check people's IDs, and even if i could, no potential reader is going to upload an ID just to read a story they don't even know if they'll like yet

these bills do not protect children, they will only isolate them more. abuse becoming hidden does not mean a lack of abuse
if you actually want to protect children online (and frankly, adults too!) you would pass legislation that protects individuals data privacy + strengthen encryption protections
