Just a quick follow up here from the dimension of reality... "Obamacare" brought 30M+ consumers into the market, mostly funneling them through things called "marketplaces" where they could shop and compare plans.

Given that fact, what the actual fuck are you talking about you simp?
Ron Johnson: "Obamacare has caused this consolidation. The solution is consumerism. Free market competition."

Actually you can't do what he is saying which is, as an individual or single owner LLC/small business, join a group to get access to group rates.
For once, Paul is making total sense. This would be an immediate game changer.
I could be wrong but pretty sure Costco members can enroll in Obamacare plans through the Costco insurance setup.
Rand Paul: "My plan is this -- let people on the Obamacare market, which is about 4% of America, a small number of people, let them buy their insurance through Costco, Sam's Club, Amazon ... "

The US joined the New Axis Evil in voting against a Ukrainian resolution aimed at strengthening international cooperation and minimizing the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster.
Trump may accelerate the US accession to the New Axis of Evil.

Scott's prescription for affordability is spot on for the Dems to embrace. I would add utility costs (electric, heating oil, gas and water) are another ripe target-- go after data centers, AI, and crypto and make them pay their fair share. Also, intense scrutiny on private equity-- the entire

how about if we just have a public option that is more affordable and frankly better run than private insurance and that used market based competition to bend the cost curve?
What R U talking about?
R U ok with paying 8 to 12 pct more in taxes and possibly losing your standard deduction ?

R U ok with losing access to different curative medications and care because the government can't afford to pay for them, even after taxing all the billionaires 90 pct?
December 12, 2025 at 12:18 AM
I dunno...seems like if you added up c-suite compensation for the insurance companies plus marketing and shareholder management expenses, you'd have a pretty large-- hundreds of millions-- of immediate savings on non-value adding things.

Wow, what an irony laden hand over: "...system works only if we are smart. David Sacks, would you like to say a few words."

Narrator: They were, in fact, not smart.
Openly pining for dictatorship.

Americans are assigned randomly into 10 large risk pools which then private companies bid to administrate. After a certain period you can shop between these carriers, which are all non profit for benefit corporations. Private insurance can still exist for those that want to pay it.
Almost all of them switched decades ago or longer. Tell me how we are going to move from where we are today , to where you want to go ?

Saying you want it is easy. All I'm asking is how are we going to get there ?

If Bernie's M4A passed under Biden, RFK jr would be running M4A today.
Every other country does it, Mark. It's not some vague thought experiment.

Lots of ways it can be imperfect, of course, but it fundamentally gives everyone access to healthcare without fear of bankruptcy.
