I couldn't let the piece on litter and dog walking pass without mentioning that my dog Bertie won a BBC Making a Difference award this year for picking up plastic bottles when we go running together. He's picked up more than 10,000, which are all now in the recycling.

Danny Kruger claims migrant men represent a disproportionate threat to women.

FACT-CHECK:
Reform MPs are a bigger "Per Capita" threat to women and girls than ANY minority group.

If you want more significant numbers of asylum seekers to work and find their own housing, rather than rely on statutory asylum provision, then you presumably need to…allow them to work? What am I missing

So proud of our flagship Kent Council, who cut wasteful spending by painting yellow lines outside a school that has been closed for nine years.

Someone in Labour needs to start telling the truth to the leadership. Soon. This can't go on - it's not just nasty, it's unsustainable.

Shabana Mahmood on the BBC this morning talking about desperate people fleeing war and persecution as being given a "golden ticket" and "handouts" and saying she's got a "moral mission" to take them away from them

Shabana Mahmood and the Politics of Extortion
Labour's strategy of telling its supporters to back Reform-style policies, or get a Reform Government, is the politics of the protection racket and it is not going to work

It's disgraceful that Nigel Farage is egging Donald Trump on as he attacks the BBC and tries to pick pockets of millions of licence fee payers.

You cant parachute asylum seekers into deprived areas, in completely inappropriate housing, then say those migrants are 'dividing our country'. You divided the country because you can't organise a basic service and process claims in a timely way

This is flat out bollocks by the Home Secretary. Nobody is seeking asylum in UK for the joy of being crammed into an overcrowded and squalid hotel and forced to eat inedible food, which is the case for many hotels. The UK is not "generous" and it's not a prime destination for people seeking asylum.

Deep breath, once more for those at the back, seeking asylum is not illegal. No matter route used, which considering Labour has closed pretty much all the last remaining alternatives means irregular ones.
Anti-immigration sentiments are stoked by politicians like Mahmood, not people seeking safety.

Without asylum:

Marks and Spencer wouldn't exist

Queen would have been without a front man

The other queen wouldn't have had a husband

Judith Kerr would never have written The Tiger Who Came to Tea

And thousands of less famous people wouldn't have been teachers, politicians, neighbours, etc

Starbucks’ CEO makes 6,666x what the average @sbworkersunited.org barista does. It would take less than one day of sales to finalize a fair contract.

Baristas at Starbucks corporate stores nationwide are on strike to fight this corporate greed and get the fair contract they deserve.

Important time. This was a few weeks after the Skripal attack when May called out Putin, and Johnson went scuttling off without his security detail to meet Putin confidante* Alexander Lebedev in Umbria and plotted with Temerko to topple May

* by then he was aiding Putin’s puppet regime in Crimea
Just as he was advising Epstein, Bannon was advising Johnson on how to topple May “Today we are going to see if Boris Johnson tries to overthrow the British government. He’s going to give a speech in the Commons.” www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019...

Buckle up - because this now amounts to a direct and deliberate attack on our country and its cultural sovereignty. Which side our politicians take - Trump's or the BBC's - over the coming days and weeks will speak volumes about their patriotism.

The US president confirmed he intends to sue the broadcaster for at least $1bn over the Panorama edit of a 2021 speech.

Ultimately it comes down to what you're going to say at the next election.

Would you rather say "we broke our pledge but at least things are better" or "everything's still shit but at least we kept our pledge"?
Too much analysis was still treating breaking the tax pledge as “just another unpopular decision” rather than recognising consequence of breaking a promise which defined an election for the public. If is correct the govt won’t now break it they may have avoided a deeply scarring loss of public trust
