Weird to go to bed reading about the Brown shooting. Waking up to news about the Bondi Beach shooting and to be heading to bed reading that Rob Reiner and his wife were apparently stabbed to death.

I was gonna digress on a heavy topic for Tuesday’s newsletter, but the weekend was so damn horrifying for news that I can’t bring myself to do it.

This is well said. Both right-wing Catholic integralism and left-wing anti-religious polemic start from the assumption that we just can't work together toward good ends unless we agree on a whole moral/metaphysical superstructure.
And that's just silly.
