I think Zohran is an early sign

a big part of the reaction to Trump 1 was “we need to go back to normal, we gotta nominate the most conventional people imaginable” which is how we got Biden

that comprehensively failed, and a lot more people are open to real alternatives this time around
i do think the kind of backlash we see to this administration is not gonna be like what we saw to trump 1

by this metric non-newsworthy stories can become newsworthy if they generate enough outrage for being not newsworthy. also by this metric you could print an uncensored human asshole on the front page of the New York Times.
lol, and who the fuck is this?

I've really been loving The Onion in general, and especially the print edition. Something made by humans, that values human creativity over artificial efficiency is such a delight. Capitalism tells us to always produce more, but The Onion is saying, 'what if we produced something better?'

The reasonable conclusion to draw from the poll (and all the other polls, and everything else we know) is that rural Americans are -- not all, but mostly -- ignorant & bigoted.

But America's own noble-savage mythology does not permit anyone, on either side, to say that out loud.

This framing is beneath contempt. The Christian right and MAGA launched an unprecedented assault on the civil rights of a tiny minority and successfully weaponized the pseudoliberal establishment - led by the NYT - to provide it with a medical controversy pretext that doesn’t actually exist.

Having one of the richest people in America (Bloomberg) funding millions of dollars in ads bashing you really matters. Rich people promising to cut jobs from New York if you win also hurts. www.thefp.com/p/escape-fro...
