Scientists studied thousands of children born March 2020-May 2021.

Out of 800+ mothers diagnosed with COVID-19, 16.3% of their babies received a neurodevelopmental diagnosis by 3 years old, compared with 9.7% who weren’t exposed to COVID-19 in utero.

Many of the problems the agency is facing now are not new, but staff and prisoners fear an exodus of officers could make life behind bars even worse.

Writing builds resilience by changing your brain, helping you face everyday challenges
Resilience is often presented as feats of bravery and endurance. But everyday practices like journaling, drafting a text or even writing a to-do list are manifestations of a capacity to adapt.

Should I Use My State’s Digital Driver’s License?
A mobile driver’s license (often called an mDL) is a version of your ID that you keep on your phone instead of in your pocket. In theory, it would work wherever your regular ID works—TSA, liquor

Both Hegseth and adm Bradley will need to answer some questions.

This is why a reminder to not follow illegal orders is important

It is minor compared to people losing their food aid or paychecks, but I'm pissed that the FEMA online education system is shut down. Everybody from disaster managers to public health to your fire department, county and state, use those free training programs, sometimes to qualify for jobs.

When we were deployed, some Afghans risked their lives to help us. Now Trump wants to send them out to be killed by the Taliban.

It’s a disgrace, a betrayal, and a decision that endangers future US troops.
Exclusive: The U.S. government asked a judge to deport a man to Afghanistan, where he expects the Taliban to kill him. Legal experts say the case could have consequences for Afghans the U.S. rescued and promised to support.

I suspect the shift to fascism is in part due to this very phenomenon.

There is a shift in late stage capitalism to plutonimy where those outside the ultra-rich are economically irrelevant, but even the limited franchise of a farce of a democracy like the US is getting in the way of this change.

I don't want to shill for the Post, but this is a serious, silent and growing issue. Disabled folks below that age mark are in the same unpleasant boat. Nursing homes are not nice places to live, and we're supposed to have the right to care in the community - but that care is not great either.
More than 15 million people 55 or older don’t have a spouse or biological children; nearly 2 million have no family members at all.

Who will be there for these solo agers as their lives draw to a close? How many of them will die alone?
An age-old fear grows more common: ‘I’m going to die alone’
