Funny seeing Apple on stage at AWS reinvent.

Good talk, but has the sanitised and near lifeless Apple style, and it’s a stark contrast to the AWS folks.

So you want small rates increases?

And infrastructure built and maintained?

So councils can borrow against future rates changes right?

Right?

Borrow and build now. Pay off with increased households (and hence overall rate take).

Insert Star Wars Padme/Anikin image.
“We do not buy bananas, toilet paper, nappies – we buy asphalt, steel and concrete … those inflationary increases and those specific projects don’t always, don’t always align with what we see with normal household CPI.”

- Rehette Stoltz, Gisborne Mayor and LGNZ vice-president.
Simon says cap your rates – how will councils respond?
The Govt says councils must live within their means – but overseas evidence on rate caps is mixed, while local authorities fear a loss of 'critical investment' in infrastructure

I …. actually enjoyed lockdown. Late summer on the island is lovely. It was quiet - SO quiet - and the beach is walking distance. Got out on the bike, in the sun…

2nd and 3rd were less fun tho.

Memory of someone at Waikaremoana asking “is this going to be a thing” about 4 days before..
What's a charming memory you have from the worst period of the pandemic?

Apparently Sam knows a thing or two about standing over someone

With a chair leg wasn’t it?
Boards Chair here - before our BOT passed a motion affirming our commitment to Te Tiriti, I received emails from parents and teachers urging the board on.

The union never said a word.

Amazing that reaffirming a commitment to Te Tiriti is viewed as "anti-govt" (his words)
