When I was 18, backpacking cheaply in Europe, a New Yorker I met in Paris mentioned some expensive place that cost ‘a nominal egg!’ I thought it was SUCH a cool phrase! I think I started using it!

No, YOUR brain relied on the foggy memory of putting the bin out yesterday, and woke you up with a jolt at 6am because you'd actually forgotten, and then when you went outside in your jammies at 6am there was an entire family getting into a car who said good morning to you and your bed-hair. 💀
No, YOU heard a lorry outside and thought you'd missed bin day and ran out in your jammies to put the bin out only to meet some men delivering building materials to a neighbour 😳
