So today is San Francisco rezoning day and the Chronicle is already putting out misinformation. The rezoning plan paints a bullseye on about 35K rent controlled units in buildings getting at least 2-story height bumps above their current allowable height limit. About 12k units have heights >2x

ProPublica spoke to about 150 people who had lived in homeless encampments when cities cleared them out in “sweeps.”

We distributed notecards so people could tell us about the toll in their own words.

Literally begging you to post about Just Some Stuff. We will see the news I absolutely promise. Twenty people will repost the same exact thing about the news. Only you can post about a turtle you saw
i don't mean to come off as rude but we cannot sustain ourselves on outrage and anger forever. i think it's even more important now to post about other things too. even if it gets less engagement. you never know who will find it cool and interesting.
It’s a real mindfuck when most ppl wanna post about their latest failures/successes, or weird shit they saw in the wild or cool stuff they made…but the country is a cesspool so cool/weird shit seems trite.

Why is the penalty for riding SF public transit without paying higher than the penalty for parking at a meter without paying?

If you ride Muni and don’t pay, the fine is $130. If you park in a metered spot and don’t pay, the fine is $99. This doesn't make sense, especially in a "Transit First" city

In just three months under Mayor Daniel Lurie’s leadership, San Francisco has seen a 50% spike in overdose deaths, with 192 lives lost in early 2025 alone. That’s nearly two people dying daily from pr...

But a new report from UC San Francisco suggests that in most cases, the actual story is more complicated, and often runs in the opposite direction.
