Lisa Owen, do you listen to yourself?

I ended up on swifty TikTok and the comments are absolutely killing me. "9th grade slam poetry", [a photo of boiled chicken], "album for cop wives", "If Taylor wrote this that's bad, if ChatGPT wrote this that's worse, and if Travis wrote this I'm actually kind of proud of him".

māteatea: (verb) to be ignominious, humiliating, shameful, inglorious, abject

and:

Reading much tonight on Charlie Kirk, who he was, what he said and believed -- from both admirers and those deeply opposed. It does not matter. None of it. What matters is that political violence made routine against any voice, left or right, marks us as a failing, dying republic.
This is horror.

Was the privilege of a lifetime to work with these folks. They each did amazing things under huge pressure day-in-day-out for more than two years.
When the Covid-19 pandemic hit the world, a group of scientists and researchers in Aotearoa New Zealand dropped everything they were doing and rolled up their sleeves to help the response. This response ultimately saved around 20,000 lives 🧪 🧵

If NCEA were a woman, I'd say she's being gaslit.

( I said this in response to a question on what I thought of the media response to the changes.)

A thing to do is amplify Greens policy (see @maramadavidson.bsky.social) and @tepaatimaori.bsky.social policy.

Talk about it with your mates. Plaster it over your social media.

The Government is trying to normalise wealth inequity, conservatism, misogyny - amplify and vote for those pushing back.

Budget 2025 is a disaster for our environment. Conservation investment is MIA while 75% of native species face extinction. The Govt is gambling with $133B in natural assets and our economy. This is environmental neglect, not leadership. We demand better.

No nature, no economy: Budget 2025 misses the $133b point
Forest & Bird says the Government’s lack of investment in New Zealand’s environment in Budget 2025 is deeply concerning given the importance of the environment to our economy and society.

It's ridiculous to me that the Government believes they are unable to tell the likes of Meta and Google what to do when it comes to preventing harm to all New Zealanders through online scams, but they are happy to assume they can demand they establish the ages of every user in NZ.
Why banning social media for NZers under 16 is a bad idea – and will affect adults too
Analysis: It's not clear that outright prohibition will achieve what is hoped for.
