I think many business travelers have had similar dog and shot experiences in some genuinely unfamiliar locations. This thread is the best description of business travel I've ever read!
So Greg Bovino is back to his post at USBP in El Centro. There are many lovely hardworking Americans in El Centro but at a place to be it is not to everyone’s taste. I had a hearing in El Centro and drove there the night before because you can’t get there in the morning…../1

We're used to seeing images like this of Nazi Germany. This is what an execution looks like. It's an image that will haunt America for years to come. Alex Pretti was a nurse whose life was dedicated to saving lives. In the eyes of the world, America has become the monster it used to fight against.

If they are yelling “he’s got a gun!” after they’ve pinned him to the ground, when he’s unable to move, then it’s clear they didn’t know he had a gun until that moment, so he couldn’t have approached them brandishing it--and couldn’t use it because they’d pinned him down.
Once again, the government is trying to get you to believe your own eyes are lying to you. This was another murder by ICE, an agency that proves day after day it has no business policing on America’s streets.
DHS (once again) announces conclusion (within 3 hours) without any investigation.

- Conclusion about federal agent's intent
- Conclusion about individual's intent
- Implicit conclusion about timing of disarming the individual and shooting him

For far too long, the federal government has operated immigration flights without full transparency. These ghost flights are tearing families apart, leaving loved ones in the dark, and giving immigration agencies free rein to act without oversight, transparency, and justice.

This is such a cool illustration of how the Mercator map distorts the size of Greenland, which looks as big as the whole continent of Africa on that map but is actually the size of Mexico.

My NYT obit on Aldrich Ames, CIA turncoat for the Russians. I interviewed him in the county lockup after his arrest in 1994, then by telephone for eight hours. Deluded, deeply alcoholic, he thought he could lift up the hood of history and tinker with the engine.

This ("people with delusions...") describes most senior political appointees in DC up to and including Cabinet Secretaries.
One underrated thing Mamdani has going for him is that he has always known he is ineligible for the presidency

The profession of elected official attracts a lot of people with delusions of grandeur and an agenda built around getting to the job they want rather than doing the job they actually have

This entire article is positive about Trump Gold Cards. It contains positive quotes about it from Trump, Lutnick and a CEO. It contains no quotes from the many critics of the program. This is sandwiched between 6 posts about Erika Kirk. CBS is lost.

And so it begins…

Since the recalls, I've seen a lot of takes that the results are rebukes to the Lai administration from society as a whole. But that seems very wrong to me, these were constituencies that voted pan-Blue last time, hence why recalls could be organized there
