It is genuinely insane to watch capital decide that allowing this shit to go on is better for them than having to allow the FTC to do mild monopoly investigations and require cancellation buttons on websites.

I hadn’t thought about this until I read this post, but yes! Why would anything beyond a taser be needed? (And I can logically carry my own argument to no taser, but trying to be open minded.) If an individual of interest is presenting an immediately safety risk, bring in local police (sigh).
They don't need guns. Immigration enforcement should be done with a clipboard and pencil not a semiautomatic firearm.

So did the Prez make it to Davos or nah?

ditto.
Not to get all stentorian, but both my grandfathers served in WW2, and one of them died from its lingering sting decades later (chronic injuries). An ocean of fucking blood shed, the highest price imaginable paid to create a world where this shit didn’t happen, undone for *nothing*. Fuck you!

“Taking away a person's right to vote who has been convicted of a felony has never been about punishing people who committed a crime. It was and remains an overt and intended effort to block Black people from voting,” state Sen. Mamie Locke (D) said during floor debate.

Why has President Trump pardoned Adriana Camberos 2x? Are they in business together? Does 2x pardon happen often?

A family from South Carolina brought their measles infections to airports, ferries and various locations in Washington state.

The health department says that they didn’t know they had measles.

But this is why unvaccinated people are a danger to communities, not just themselves.

Guv, her conduct stands out. Unlike most of us, enough of the public trusted her to elect her to public office and within 3 years of that, allowed unauthorized persons access to those voters’ information.
Peters is eligible for community corrections as early as the first half of 2027. It's unlikely she serves anywhere close to 9 years. I asked why he thinks the sentence is harsh.

I’m seeing posts from people (outside of MN) about how US citizens should carry their passports.

And let me say that *inside* MN, we are calmly responding to requests with: “No, I don’t have to show you any documentation.”

Because that’s how you protect everyone, regardless of immigration status.

Mpls: If you are working to support neighbors right now I *highly* suggest avoiding the generic "let me know what you need" and instead asking/offering directly:

"I'm going to the store. Send me a list."

"Do you need shampoo? Fruit? Toilet paper?"

"Can I help with your laundry?"

Is the thing with the ballroom that he thinks he’s going to be able to rent this to people who want to host events? Like, I know that’s the look, but perhaps that’s the plan? (See oil companies remark today.)

Thank you. Yes.
I am impeaching Secretary Kristi Noem, who is an incompetent leader and a disgrace to our democracy.

She wreaked havoc in the Chicagoland area and has brought her reign of terror to Minneapolis. One of her rogue ICE agents shot and killed an innocent woman today. It must come to an end.

Related: be fucking nice to postal workers right now. It’s not their fault postage has gone up three times this year or your package won’t get there until after New Year’s because you waited til the week of Christmas. Being mad at postal workers is the divisive shit they encourage.

This cannot be said enough! Sigh.
It’s not “losing money” any more than air traffic controllers or public highways or street lights or fire departments are “losing money.” It is a government service. It’s not SUPPOSED to make money. It’s supposed to reliably deliver to anywhere in the US, even the unprofitable places.
cnn.com CNN @cnn.com · Dec 24
The USPS faces a tight squeeze. With fewer people using the mail, it’s lost more and more money: $9 billion in the 12 months ending in September alone.

Children are being exploited. Let’s respond by dramatically hindering our ability to point out or criticize children being exploited, using methods we don’t understand because we’re old and incurious.
Children are being exploited and abused because Big Tech consistently prioritizes profits over people.

Enough is enough. Time to sunset Section 230.
