US President Donald Trump’s “Board of Peace” is dominated by Western billionaires and pro-Israel figures tasked with overseeing his 20-point plan for Gaza.

We look at who has been included ⤵️

Speeches are great but a reminder that what we're getting here in Canada so far is:

* Tax cuts for the wealthy
* Militarization and more surveillance powers
* More oil, less action on climate change.
* Austerity and cuts to the public service
* Deals with authoritarian regimes

Those of us in water abundant countries like Canada and the U.S. may take this for granted, but global freshwater imbalances are a growing geopolitical risk, intensified by the climate crisis
Climate change, pollution and decades of overuse pushed the world into a state of “water bankruptcy,” leaving billions of people without enough water to meet their basic needs.

In a sweeping report, scientists compared humanity to a person plunging into financial ruin. https://wapo.st/4pTRFNp

Research ties long #COVID in kids to chronic school absenteeism, learning problems

Long COVID was also linked to a higher prevalence of anxiety and depression.

Immediate punishment for speaking out against the regime.
Mischief Toy Store in St. Paul has until Wednesday to turn over employment records to the Department of Homeland Security as part of a surprise audit launched Friday, just hours after one of the shop's owners criticized ICE agents during a television interview. bit.ly/4r5AFol

This principle would be a lot more credible to uphold if the EU had not broadly looked the other way as Israel de facto annexed the West Bank over the course of decades.

If you think it's bizarre for your date to ask you to take a Covid test but normal for them to ask you to wear a condom, what's the difference? Are only some pathogens worth preventing?

"Abolish ICE" is the moderate position. "Try everyone involved in ICE for crimes against humanity" is the progressive one.

At this moment in history, when the Trump admin is trying to cynically divide certain Jews as "good refugees" from other "bad refugees," it's worth remembering that the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting was caused by the synagogue's work for HIAS. It was both an antisemitic and anti-immigrant attack.
The Trump administration has discussed offering asylum to Britain’s Jewish population, a lawyer for the president has said.

Robert Garson, Trump’s personal lawyer, said that the UK was “no longer a safe place for Jews” ⬇️

Planning to take medicine to help you get through the workday tomorrow? If you’re not feeling well, some medicines might help you feel better but will not keep you from spreading illness to others! Continue to stay home and away from others as much as you can, and wear a mask if you have to go out.

Research shows COVID raises cardiovascular risk for up to 3 years. Reinfection extends that risk window, adding cumulative strain on the heart and blood vessels.

That's twice that Brookfield (of which Carney was chair of the board of directors until Jan. 2025) preceded Carney's trade visit to a problematic regime.

JFC this is an awful take.
Should Carney participate in Trump's "Board of Peace"? My initial thought (subject to change) is YES. Because Canada must always be perceived to be a voice of peace, even in the most compromised of settings. When it fails, it can't be because we did not participate. Again, just an initial thought.

This wasn't a reasonable screwup, or even just a group whose egos outgrew their scientific competence. Even if they'd been *right*, it would have been unreasonable to insist they *knew* COVID wasn't airborne in 2020.

Francesco Schettino should get a job in infection control.

He'd fit right in.

For anyone who can't figure out why so many infection control docs are still desperately trying to manufacture a narrative that COVID isn't airborne, N95s don't work, and nothing could have been done differently in 2020...

...imagine having to face the guilt for this in the mirror every day.

I'm delighted to endorse Avi for NDP leader.

He is smart, principled, and a force of nature. His commitment to building power for progressives in Canada is critical to strengthen the NDP.

Avi's vision for a safer, cleaner and more just Canada couldn't come at a more important moment in history.
I'm honoured to have the support of six amazing climate leaders from across the country and around the world.

Climate impacts are stealing lives, costing billions, and only getting more intense.

Our politics needs an injection of urgency: a climate emergency plan. A Green New Deal.
