I've mostly been off social media for the last week. It's been pretty nice, but I haven't been able to keep up with goings on, but that might be why it's been nice.

NEW: We took a deep dive into ICE's data dragnet: the data brokers, biometrics tools, and license plate readers powering Trump's deportation effort. Some of the contracts are for tools previous administrations deemed too intrusive.

Laws aren't real. They exist solely on account of buy-in from society's participants. Once one side disengages, you no longer reside in a society based on laws. You live in a society based on power and armed force. I am begging folks to accept this so we can get moving.
Just legal Calvinball. Obviously lawless.

the thing is that blowing up drug boats is just murder. no law licenses it. it is just war crimes. but to say out loud what the penalty for committing them is puts us in the position of accusing high government officials of capital crimes.

it is critically important to be able to say the obvious.

"the government should try, convict and then kill the secretary of defense for the crime he very obviously seems to have committed" seems like a radical thing to say, but -- no, it's not. it's the actual penalty for what pete hegseth, a man who ordered death squads to murder civilians, has done.

Didn't get a picture, but there's two of them. Happened to look up just in time to see two fly directly over the house, barely higher than our roof.
Didn't expect this in my backyard.

Helped provide Thanksgiving meals to 100 families.

Avoided learning whatever the latest cosmic horror is.

Made up a song about how we know these are terrible people and knowing what they do with each other can bring only pain, no knowledge but that they are terrible is needed

Been a good day

Amazing.
1) @washingtonpost.com reported Thursday on a controversial policy downgrading how nooses and swastikas are labeled in the Coast Guard.

2) Admin officials attacked The Post, falsely alleging the reporting of "fake crap."

3) The CG said it would review policy language.

4) The CG reversed course.
