If you’re coming to the Twin Cities in the next couple of weeks and this drawdown really occurs, good luck getting a rental car that doesn’t smell like body odor, piss, and 45 days of a grown man eating nothing but microwaveable soup.

My doomer-worry is that AI will continue to fracture our society in ways that will irreparably harm us all. Why call Mom for that recipe when a computer can invent something? Why see a doctor when a computer can diagnose us? Why talk to a person - any person - when we can just *not*?
My doomer-worry about AI is not that the LLMs become omnipotent and take over the world but that the wealthy and powerful use it as a means to consolidate power and marginalize or lay off skilled workers and also everything about our technological and political and social life gets worse

Minnesota National Guard members have arrived at a federal building and were directed to distribute donuts, coffee, and hot chocolate to anti-ICE protesters. Guard members were issued reflective vests so they would not be mistaken for federal agents.

When ICE succeeds at making everywhere into a combat zone, they’re able to pretend everywhere is also a protest zone. We are called “protesters” when we’re on neighborhood streets, outside donut shops, walking our kids to school. That’s on them, NOT us.
Bessent: I'm sorry he is dead, but he did bring a semiautomatic weapon to what was supposed to be a peaceful protest.

Karl: There's no evidence that he brandished the gun whatsoever

Bessent: But he brought a gun!

Karl: We do have a second amendment in this country.

It’s fucking staggering when MPD has the moral high ground.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara: "People have had enough. This is the third shooting in less than 3 weeks. The MPD went the entire year last year recovering about 900 guns from the street, arresting hundreds of violent offenders, and we didn't shoot anyone ... this is not sustainable."

Also, may I say that I don’t agree with people saying ICE and CBP need “more training.” They’re doing exactly what this administration has trained them to—impose a reign of fear in blue cities. They don’t need more training. They need to be ripped up root and branch.
