Every time I take the long but cheaper route of using Flixbus instead of the trains I regret it. Delays really do me a disfavour every time. It just feels so expensive to go from paying ~60£ to ~150£.

Interim species-specific names for Santarosamyia woodorum sp. nov., included in previously circulating databases and publications, are tachinidWood12 Wood01 and Nilea Wood01. Distribution Costa Rica, ACG, Guanacaste Province, 20–326 m elevation. Ecology Santarosamyia woodorum sp. nov. has been reared twelve times from at least two species of Lepidoptera in the family Crambidae: Omiodes cuniculalis Guenée, 1854 (n = 3), Eulepte Janzen06 (n = 1) and Eulepte concordalis Hübner, 1825 (n = 7) and one species in the family Pyralidae: Chloropaschia granitalis (C. Felder, R. Felder & Rogenhofer, 1875) (n = 1) in dry fo rest, at elevations ranging from 20–326 m.

Grading and googling hallucinated citations, as one does nowadays, and now that LLMs have been around for a while, I've discovered new horrors: hallucinated journals are now appearing in Google Scholar with dozens of citations bc so many people are citing these fake things

these one-click AI edit buttons are incredibly appealing to many photographers, amateurs and professionals alike, and are framed as innocuous

A neat goose hybrid posted to ‘What’s this Bird?’ but when you zoom in on the photos the bill details have been too manipulated by AI photo editing to be accurately assessed for which species may be involved. Scroll on… A cool-looking Red-tailed Hawk that someone is wondering which subspecies it might be - right up my alley! But when you zoom in on the photos literally every feather group has been so heavily manipulated and altered by AI editing that it’s impossible to determine subspecies because the photo is essentially fake now; just a mashup of whatever AI thinks parts of a Red-tail should look like. Scroll on… WOW! That’s a remarkable trail cam photo of a Bobcat! It almost looks like a painting!… but the head looks oddly small…. hmmmm. After some prodding the original photo is produced and sure enough it had been so heavily altered by AI ‘post processing’ that the photo posted was essentially a digital mock-up with totally different proportions and fur markings. No longer the photo off the trail cam; it may as well have just been ‘created’ by AI from scratch. This stuff is killing me. My days on social media are becoming very limited. We can’t even trust simple, everyday photos of animals to be real. The wildlife community needs to quit editing with AI, and we need to start calling out photographers that are using it. Our reality is being destroyed all around us.

For the record, because my slimy university professors are hard at work lying about it, a large portion of the ongoing deforestation in Brazil for the purpose of producing massive amounts of GMO soybean, which is soaked with pesticides and exported for livestock feed. Not for human consumption.
