The other day I had the chance of attending a lecture by the wonderful @waspwoman.bsky.social
Not only did she show amazing research, but the love and passion for the poorly misunderstood wasps is really something!!

#ThrowbackThursday brought by a Ripipteryx marginata seem at El Valle De Anton in Panama last March!
The amazing matte finish is really not captured by the camera!

This so common in "environmentally friendly "countries.
The case of Panama comes to mind, were the government was more than happy to let build a new mining operation in the middle of an old growth forest, and that sadly you can see now from space.

Basically, we set 7 different traps across a hectare of tropical forest.
We found cca. 10k different species of insects!
surprisingly more of that fauna is made of by flies (?!)
This will be the first of a series of papers exploring metabarcoding and tropical biodiversity :)

Happy to share here that I'll be starting a Research Master at Oxford this October!
I'll be tackling questions regarding how well insect biodiversity is recovered by restoration efforts!

Quite anticlimactic but finally received the diploma and closed the chapter of my undergrad!
It took me almost 8 years, 3 different careers but at the end I'm very happy of being a biologist/ researcher. And I couldn't see myself doing anything else!

Now to Oxford!!
