In LA, community organizing has played a major role in slowing ICE down. Here are the strategies I saw while I was there.

Note: This is a shorter cut of a longer video that’s available on my other socials. All of which can be found here: linktr.ee/kevinfoster

It's my birthday which means I get to shamelessly ask for reposts!
I'm David and I'm an odd mix: Amateur wildlife photographer, digital artist (3D and painting), bird-nerd, spider-liker, word-writer, and dungeon-master.

I'm vehemently anti-AI and live in the lower Blue Mountains, west of Sydney AU.

This is Waylon. He'd been in a shelter for 95 days when a woman came in with her son Cai. Cai asked so many great questions about how to keep him safe and healthy. When he returned to officially adopt Waylon, he arrived in a very dapper suit, saying it was a "special occasion." 14/10 for everybody

“In traditional patronage back in the day, a wealthy individual would be like, ‘Hey, Mozart, I like what you’re doing over there. Here’s some money, keep doing that. Love you man!’ This kind of thing still happens in classical music […] just not so much in TV, film, or video games.”
The game industry is a bit of a mess right now and it’s hitting all of us, but when things get bad, they’re often toughest on marginalized folk.

So. @aiviwave.com and I are launching the Rising Star Patronage Project to support game composers & make great music!

You have three days, starting today, to leave a public comment with the FDA about, say, why COVID-19 boosters should remain available to everyone and also free. "Individual consumer" is the category you most likely want (unless you are one of the other categories; if so, choose that).

This may of interest to folks! The people involved include @kissane.bsky.social of The Covid Tracking Project (which was vital for so many of us when there was minimal information) and many others doing awesome things! Worth keeping an eye on and maybe volunteering if you have the bandwidth.

A reminder to NYC folks: don’t rank Eric Adams or Cuomo, AND fill all five spots with other candidates.
NEW:

An investigation into how New York City's law enforcement officials pushed a narrative that a mysterious and deadly Venezuelan gang was running amok, despite little evidence to back it up, and helped the Trump admin invoke the Alien Enemies Act.
