aw those sound like fond memories! my dad was an engineer who specialized in disk heads & hard drives. i remember listening to him argue with his best friend at the dinner table about like, time travel & quantum mechanics in solid state drives or sth? very much a tech optimist, lover of invention.

ha. so an example. my dad was considering letting AI write his memoir so that his kids could read his life story. he doesn’t care if it’s well-written. i reminded him that to reach that goal, he needs to be a kind of father that his kids want to connect to and read about.

i did think about including that! i chose not to because it seems to be a much less common scenario. i haven’t ever done it or encountered it among my musician friends or long-nailed students—so while that is possible, if i apply my own experience and discernment, it’s *more likely* the other thing

i’m a pianist, and we constantly keep our nails short to play our instruments effectively. when i see someone with long, beautiful nails or elaborate nail art, i know that person either hasn’t been playing or doesn’t play at all.
