my perhaps too uncharitable hot take here is that a lot of the time it's (consciously or not) a public performance of being an alien from an accounting planet to try and get some of the collective stink of humanity off you. Unappealing to most of humanity for fairly self-explanatory reasons

The problem is that the media consistently treats named Dems as the least trustworthy source about what Dems are actually doing or saying. I mean, we still have folks claiming Biden 'promised to run for only one term' when it was an anonymous whisper campaign that Biden's camp immediately refuted
