for the record, if you reply to my posts expressing that you think that maybe Trump is an invincible mastermind who can get away with anything, and I don't know you, I'll probably block

I'm gonna pin this so also, for the record, if I don't follow you, please do not take that personally

I was thinking about Mamdani's comments about civility and cruelty when I came across this 1966 column by William F. Buckley excoriating Arnold Forster, General Counsel of the ADL, for refusing to shake the hand of John Rousselot, public relations director of the John Birch Society.

the media with the able assistance of the progressive left has worked to demonize literally every Democratic President since JFK died, largely successfully, Obama being the only failure so far, but even there there's a narrative of how millennials are "cringe" about Obama

bill clinton really doesn't get enough credit for bogging down the democratic party.

I wish we could just normalize the idea that what James is doing here is lying.

I have zero patience left for the accounts that persistently say “but if Democrats would just do X” when the reality is they are already demanding it and advocating for it both in word and in practice.

my perhaps too uncharitable hot take here is that a lot of the time it's (consciously or not) a public performance of being an alien from an accounting planet to try and get some of the collective stink of humanity off you. Unappealing to most of humanity for fairly self-explanatory reasons

I love the implication that an old senator is a total liability, as if them dying of old age is a complete political disaster and not just a trigger for a special election where the same party will probably win again

The problem is that the media consistently treats named Dems as the least trustworthy source about what Dems are actually doing or saying. I mean, we still have folks claiming Biden 'promised to run for only one term' when it was an anonymous whisper campaign that Biden's camp immediately refuted

Biden did more for every single aspect of "the progressive agenda" than any other president of my lifetime.

Looking at the way the progressives turned on him, I have to wonder why they believe any other politician would ever again stick their neck out to support that agenda.

The Constitution gives states the power to determine the time, place and manner of elections. Only Congress can change the rules for federal elections. The White House has no role to play in any of this.

It's genuinely good seeing this come from relatively normal and sane elites, because we're going to need them to help us reconstitute a normal, functional elite and enforce new norms that banish the insane shit swallowing everything for a generation or more.

The split-screen here is unbelievable - first from yesterday, the others from 2017. Musk’s Twitter has truly driven us mad.
