And that everyone considers Miller the real president… Trump’s just his puppet.
I continue to believe that the fastest way to get Stephen Miller fired is to convince Trump that Miller's ICE operations are what cost him the Nobel Peace Prize.

This is the book I really, really, really wanted to win the 2026 Newbery! Congratulations, Renée Watson!
Renée Watson wins the Newbery! She is a treasure and so is this book. I just gifted it to a young reader friend. It's a book in verse, so accessible, about grief.

We get that Republicans want to argue that “you shouldn’t” protest or film agents, or that it’s “a bad idea.” But it’s a right. That means you don’t get to decide whether someone gets to do it if that’s how they choose to protest. It also means agents can’t kill people who do.

Most friends/fam have said they’re disappointed and ashamed they aren’t doing more, even though they’re coordinating safe bus stops, groceries, laundry, activities for kids etc. They aren’t sleeping or taking care of themselves, and I know they won’t until their neighbors… their family… is safe.

Really hard to look at this and all the other examples of bravery and kindness from ordinary people in this moment not think also of the tremendous cowardice exhibited over the past year by some of the richest, most well-protected people in business, media and politics
Let us all have the courage displayed by the residents of Minneapolis.

My old, wonderful neighborhood. Proud of you, Midway-Hamline. Proud of you, Minnesota.
I was unaware of the Midway-Hamline Diaper Bank, but if you are looking for a place to donate, that would be a great one. Midway-Hamline/Frogtown are two of the most diverse (majority POC) neighborhoods in the cities, full of young families, and the main store selling sundry items there is Target.
Reminder that in solidarity with today's anti-ICE general strike in Minnesota, I am donating all proceeds from today's newsletter to People over Papers, the Midway-Hamline Diaper Bank, and Every Meal. Sign up for PN through the links in this edition 👇 to support good causes.

In the late 1920s, American realism was beginning to brush up against modernism’s flattened forms. In Cape Ann Granite (1928), Hopper makes granite the main actor—carving hill and house into interlocking planes, as his realism reached toward abstraction.

Gut wrenching. @jessicatarlov.bsky.social — maybe this makes the show. Maybe ask when a small number of republicans reps will decide this isn’t ok, and stop treating this as a way to “stick it to the libs.”

Jesus would weep.
The audio on this video is extremely heartbreaking to listen to
