Totally unsurprising that rich and powerful men acted like Epstein having the most basic grasp of music theory made him a genius. Knowing that Beethoven’s 5th doesn’t start in the downbeat and being able to remember 2 scale degrees is not a sign of superior intelligence!

If your PhD program is not teaching every one of your students how to write book reviews, abstracts, and journal articles, you are committing educational malpractice. These skills should not be outsourced, nor should they be the purview of a special few favored advisees
I would like to take a moment to remind my colleagues that it s not the job of book reviews editors to train your PhD students in academic niceties such as punctuation, sentence structure, or reading the damn instructions.

Reading High Fidelity for a class this semester and oh man the protagonist is cringe. Then I cringed even more when I read I am the same age as him. Anyway the book is really well written and the music references are hella cool.
