Bluesky's favorite opera composer [citation needed]. Not tonal, not atonal, but a secret third thing. Posts about music, D&D, and loads of other nonsense | she/her | midwesterner in 🌉

Patti Smith is definitely one of the rockers who incorporates religious ecstasy into her performances, only instead of channeling American gospel like the rest of her generation it feels more like she went with Hildegard of Bingen

Got the traditional periodic reminder from my mother that, despite the passage of fifteen years and two entire degrees in composition, the best thing I've ever written is apparently the treble choir/piano/clarinet Teasdale setting I wrote in 10th grade. Happy Thanksgiving

My composition teacher Elimor Armer, who got her start in the Bay Area composition scene in the fucking SIXTIES, once heard me tell a story about fighting someone in the department on sexist bullshit and said: "That's because you're a brazen hussy just like me!"
What is the best compliment you ever received? Putting aside whether or not you believed it.

It's a holiday weekend. You're going to hit up a townie bar and need a break from family soon enough. Why not read [EDITOR'S NOTE: if you're on *Bluesky*, it's reread] our good friend Tim's now 10.5 year old story on arguably the greatest jukebox goof of all time www.vice.com/en/article/i...

To be fair, beginning my workday at 12:08 and appearing in public 39% less than usual is a GREAT sign for my composition career

The latest @xkcd.com made me a little emotional. I practically grew up with xkcd, I remember those anxious comics from fifteen years ago. It really has been all that time, hasn't it? What a beautiful thing to have time.

"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.
