California's rise of the battery continues 🔋

⬆️ Batteries met 27.8% of the evening peak load on Sunday.

⬇️ Gas met 13.3%

Batteries are already outcompeting gas at peak times. Change is happening, and it's happening fast.

I can remember fishing in this dam while construction was taking place. Can confirm that I didn't catch anything 😅

Cool to fish while looking at a FPV plant though.

Two African countries, two totally different electricity systems.

Kenya generates nearly 90% of its electricity from non-fossil fuel sources. South Africa is still dependent on coal, using it to generate 82% of its electricity.

The news has been more than a bit grim of late, so hooray for @carbonbrief.org providing some genuine and really meaningful **good** news: the UK's carbon emissions in 2024 were the lowest since 1872, because demand for fossil fuels just keeps decreasing.

The solar module tiering team wishes it to be known that the BNEF tier 1 criteria have been updated. The main change is that from 2Q 2025, only solar projects over 10MW are relevant to tiering.

They are not seeking feedback on this change.

To help the farming economy of South Africa right now, the focus must remain on improving rural roads, rail, port efficiency, functioning of the municipalities, and various reforms at the Department of Agriculture. The sector has great potential and is hobbled by these issues.
