I think Sevens lends itself to the weekend out attraction aspect - short games, you can fill in all sorts of razzmatazz, but a full 15s game takes about 2 hours and watching 3 in a row on a day is a massive drag ESPECIALLY if I’m watching 38 year old Julian Savea
It is true they charge a lot. Concerts too, there have been stories of Americans catching European tour dates of a band because even with the flight and hotel it's cheaper. fortune.com/2024/05/18/t...
Ironic that Van der Flier is one of only 2 Irish players to win World Rugby POTY but because openside flank is insanely competitive it’s tough to say he was best in the world in his position for more than a year perhaps
Assuming the World Rugby Men’s Player of the Year won’t consider (much of) the November internationals, what would your ballot be considering rugby from November 2024 until now?
My final ballot:
Louis Bielle Biarrey 🇫🇷 Dan Sheehan ☘️ Ox Nche 🇿🇦 Len Ikitau 🇦🇺
Toughish year because it hasn’t felt like either many players played at an exceptional level the whole year because of injuries or their team rotating (SA)/not sending their best team to NZ (Fra)
Old faithfuls like PSDT, Ardie, Etzebeth had good but not great years for me.

I get it’s kind of a story but this is also essentially “George Ford chooses to continue being employed instead of investing everything into this Ponzi scheme”
