By the way, for those of you not in MN: Homan’s strategy was to withdraw some agents, so it felt like we were in the denouement of the crisis, and then escalate hard against observers. They’re being incredibly aggressive with observers now. National media may not want to check out just yet

This is just part of patrol. ICE threatens you, points guns at you, brutalizes or kills someone in front of you. Every day it's somebody new in our circle. We gather around them while they work through the stress and fear and then, to the person, they go back out.

My friends are so insanely brave.
Friend who's part of a neighborhood watch group says their car was just surrounded by ICE. Is fine but obviously rattled.

The federal government is stealing our neighbors and then slandering them, telling us our neighbors are dangerous criminals. They hate our neighbors because our neighbors aren't white and they want to cleanse the country of them, and then the monsters don't even have the guts to be honest about it.
Worst of the worst: "Pena Jimenez, a Mexican citizen who lives in Lakeville, came to the U.S. in 2000, owns a tile installation business and has no criminal record, according to his petition." Flown out of the country, against a judge's order.

Despite judge’s order, ICE sent an immigrant to Mexico instead of back to Minnesota
The government says the undocumented immigrant voluntarily left the U.S. His attorney is seeking a contempt of court finding as the federal courts remain overwhelmed by immigration cases.

Yes, the President is a racist bigot.

And the whole cause of the occupation in Minnesota right now is the racist trope thrown at our Somali community that they are more prone to violence and fraud than other groups of people. That is gutter trash racism that has been around for thousands of years.

i think the thing to really understand here is that ICE is political police. there's a vestigial element that is ancestrally related to something called "immigration enforcement" (which is also bogus) but ICE is political police for policing political enemies

Last I knew, Hennepin is the only district court in the state doing in-person eviction court dates. They've said it's easier to administer than Zoom hearings.

But we now have an impossible choice for BIPOC tenants: if they show up, ICE may grab them. Don't show and they're evicted by default.
This is where people would exit from appearing in 4th Judicial District Housing Court (& other courts), and my understanding is that the 4th JD (Hennepin) is still having initial eviction action appearances in-person rather than remote (unlike everywhere else in the state).

EVICTION MORATORIUM NOW.
