Why should it take a vote as he apparently can order DOJ to do his bidding. If there is nothing to hide, then just have them release all the files.

If not clear to folks before, this & the past 10 months demonstrates his thinking & push is not about ideas or even prior political parties, but is about being loyal to him & those he deems as the “ingroup”. It fits intergroup/intragroup relations work.

Good that JK called him out on the Walmart lie, but he let Hassett get away with saying inflation is down since Biden. It's not down. October 2024 inflation was 2.6%. October 2025 inflation was 2.9%. Also, average gas price is slightly higher now than November 2024.

There are lots of ways to explain it (e.g., zero-sum game; politics as "sports"; purity tests). I think of it in social psych terms (which does include zero-sum) along the lines of ingroup-outgroup bias; ultimate attribution error; halo and/or horns bias; & the classic cognitive dissonance.
The larger discussion of all this is wrapped up in a contemporary notion that I find puzzling of Total Person Endorsement. Nobody can just give props to a single thing people do or make, they feel they have to like and approve of everything about them in order to do so.
You can think it’s good that Massie and MTG are stirring up shit within the GOP caucus without thinking their politics in general is good. It’s not hard at all in fact?
