Half a century ago, the American Indian Movement (AIM) was founded on Franklin Ave. in Minneapolis in response to police violence targeting indigenous residents.

Today, as ICE invades the city, AIM patrols are back, watching over elders, youths and aunties along the same avenue.

When I lecture to students about how the apparently thriving economy of the 1920s was really a house of cards just waiting to be knocked down, one of the points I stress is how much a small number of the very rich were essentially propping up consumer spending in unsustainable ways
The top 10% now account for nearly half of all consumer spending.

This is surreal. 4 Oglala Lakota men kidnapped by ICE in Minneapolis have finally been located. One of them was released but the other 3 are being held at Fort Snelling, a former concentration camp used to imprison Native people incl. the Dakota 38 during Dakota Wars.

Really, this is just not the time to listen to moderate think tanks. The whole extremist game here is to make all government appear useless. Stop helping them with this and answer the calls your constituents are making instead.
Hakeem Jeffries: "Clearly, significant reform needs to take place as it relates to the manner in which ICE is conducting itself. ICE is using taxpayer dollars to brutalize American citizens and to unnecessarily and viciously target law-abiding immigrant families and communities."

People absolutely forget that students are workers.
Never mind the fact that one of the "changes" that has occurred over the past 20 years is the amount of paid labour students are performing while also studying full time. Most literally don't have time to read.

“I knew that if I stayed at Yale, there would be pressure not to bring the Trump administration’s wrath onto Yale.

I knew that Yale would try to normalize the situation, escape being in the press, urge us to see the fascists as just politically different.”
I study fascism. I’ve already fled America.

The deployment of this fascist militia is revealing the failure of conventional models of policing to protect communities, people, day to day life. Courts, laws, all powerless. Maybe the crushing economic burden of policing in general and this army in particular will gain more attention?
In addition to Good's murder, ICE has been busy in Minneapolis causing car wrecks and traffic jams, filling the streets with tear gas and goons with loaded weapons, issuing specific threats and sewing general chaos.

This is not law enforcement to preserve order. It's an occupation to cause chaos.
Trump's thugs are going hog wild and tossing gas around in one of the busiest commercial districts in Minneapolis, just a mile or so from where I live. Complete insanity.

🚨 In Nov., Trump's Labor Dept. lowered the minimum wage for foreign farmworkers.

A month later, Trump's winery filed to hire 36 foreign, temporary workers.

The rate? Almost $2/hour less than in 2025.

ICE: “Have you not learned from the past few days?”

Woman: “Learned what? What’s our lesson?”

Every domestic violence survivor knows what those words means.

The misogyny on display by ICE is terrifying & escalating.

There’s no lesson we need to learn.

I was today years old when I learned that the “Cultural Marxism” talking point we hear from Republicans like Ted Cruz is a literal Nazi conspiracy theory.

It has its roots in Kulturbolschewismus, or Cultural Bolshevism, which the Nazis threw around to discredit their opposition.
