I can't think of something less controversial to say about US presidents than that Trump is the most openly corrupt president in US history. Shame on the BBC.
NEWS --> BBC confirms to me that they did edit a line out of historian @rutgerbregman.com's speech. It called Trump "the most openly corrupt president in US history."

BBC also confirms this was done on the advice of lawyers. So Trump's threats worked.

Trump’s Fury at BBC Gets Unnerving Results with Pro-MAGA Edit Stunner
First, British Broadcasting Corporation execs resigned after Trump complained about a segment. Now the BBC edited out a line from a historian that was critical of Trump. Where does this end?

1. A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.

It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.

It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... and of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.

Transgender care saves lives.
Study In The Journal Of Pediatrics Finds Trans Youth Care Lowers Suicidality, Few Detransition
The groundbreaking study found that suicidality dropped for transgender youth receiving hormone therapy by nearly 70%, with only 7 patients of 432 discontinuing treatment.

Every bit of this only reinforces Joyce Carol Oates’ absolute roast of Elon Musk as fundamentally lacking in the ability to enjoy anything normally human. “I built a tool that can insult people in a social setting better than anything ever invented” is a real personal tell.

A breakthrough in navigation, the sextant was used for measuring the angle between a celestial object and the horizon to determine latitude and longitude. It first appeared in the mid 18th century, so wouldn't have been available to pirates of the Golden Age.

Anyone in #academicsky land use a reMarkable? I use an old iPad to read / annotate PDFs, but it’s clunky & integration isn’t the best. I travel A LOT, so light, easy-to-carry tech is my jam for working on planes/in coffee shops, etc. I’m thinking of a refurb RM, but not sure it’s worth it? Thoughts?

The picture is of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, nominally the nation's top diplomat and also the National Security Advisor, who may or may not have called senators to disavow the plan he insists he co-wrote.
