370 years ago, on the 18th of December 1655, the Whitehall Conference ended with the conclusion that there were no laws preventing Jews from re-entering England after the expulsion in 1290. Jews would be readmitted to England in the 1660's. #otd #history 🗃️

The whaleship Wanderer was built in 1878 by J.H. Holmes & Sons of Mattapoisett, Massachusetts. Her long career crossed the Atlantic, Pacific, and Arctic Oceans, and spanned declining demand for whale oil and the dangers of World War I.
