Yet another Washingtonian pushing the ubiquitous Nats/DC sports, Penn State, transit, bicycling, #dckayaking, broomball, skiing, gin & tonic agenda. Raising a family in Alexandria.

9 Hours. 26 minutes. 18 seconds.

That's how much daylight we have in DC on this shortest day of the year. Happy Winter Solstice at 10:03 AM!

Seasonable w/ some sun, breezy, and highs mid-40s to near 50. Colder Mon, then warmer Tue thru Christmas Day, when a shower is possible.

Most of the region running above average for snowfall this season so far! ❄️ ☃️

Snowiest December in DC and many nearby spots since 2017. The 2018-2024 period had only 0.6 inches in total for the month.

Can we add more over next two weeks? Details at cwg.live.

We're down to just three teams without an MLB FA signing:

Red Sox (connected to seemingly everyone)
Rockies (connected to exactly one player)
Nationals (connected to exactly zero players)

$56 (Dodgers) which was the July 4 markup last year (Red Sox)

This year $34 for July 4 (Pirates)

Not sure I feel like spending $56
...
Nats tickets are on presale and the markup they do for Opening Day should be illegal.

Not cool
1. For at least 10 years, Pepsi has conspired with Walmart to force up grocery prices. That’s the shocking evidence made public today in an unsealed FTC lawsuit. The suit was abandoned in May by the Trump FTC just before it was to be un-redacted. We went to court to get it unsealed & won.

Just what we were all hoping for: a December Sunday featuring meaningless football for the local team, and wind chills crashing through the teens, perhaps into the single digits by evening.

Here's the wind chill drop expected Sunday after whatever snow we end up getting in the early-morning hours.

Kinda surprised traffic isn’t worse, given how few connective roads we have

Remeber the racoon that broke into a VA ABC (alcohol) store and got drunk and passed out? (Close to my house too). Welllll… The ABC is now using a racoon to promote products lol.

Ashland VA is making tee shirts. The racoon has saved us in the RVA area.
