Somewhat off topic but playing mixed sex roller derby (an intensely physical contact sport roughly like playing rugby on skates) has really underlined for me how much our social perception of men as being a different category of strength to women is an ideological construct reinforced by separation.
Men are not superhuman or indestructible; in fact, men are killed, injured & assaulted by men every day. Men are victims of male violence at higher rates than women (apart from sexual violence & domestic abuse). The patriarchal myth of masculine invulnerability is dangerous.
