Black Rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis)
6x9" watercolor and gouache painting

Trying to sketch with gouache more, because I currently find it really frustrating to use...
Not sure if anyone's tired of seeing rhinos, but I'm not :]

White Rhinoceros mud bath
Another with powdered graphite. Quickly sketched with pencil, with all of the tones applied with a sponge for smooth marks, crumpled tissue for some grass texture, highlights with an eraser. Basically practicing laying out a scene relatively quickly without too much detail.

Last night, I watched one of the best nature videos I have ever seen, from Cornell Lab of Ornithology. I have been in love with hornbills since I lived in Indonesia and Malaysia and saw them every time I went out in the jungle.

You really owe it to yourself to watch this.

Shifts have been more scarce this month, so I'm hoping to clear out some of my inventory to cover bills. Shares are appreciated!

My drawing skills were okay then but I literally had no idea what I was doing with paint.

Really happy with this little guy. The stone came out so beautifully blue in the end, and the deer antler idea worked out great.

I can never think of names for these little animal sculptures, got any ideas?

My allonautilus portion of the painting is finish. Now I just need to add three big atomic diagrams before I can call it done.

Cozy season is upon us! What could be more cozy than a blanket featuring this snoozing bear?

I have this + 4 other designs at www.albaillustration.com/original-art...

They are 100% cotton, machine washable, + made in the US. Gift them, throw them over your bed or couch, or hang them on the wall! 🐻

Here’s my review of “Atlas of Prehistoric Animals”. The chief draw of this book is the artwork of Petr Modlitba, who is basically the reincarnation of Zdeněk Burian; his gorgeous paintings are worth the price of admission on their own.

May I offer some dinosaur Stop Motion animation for your timeline

I didn't follow any specific reference, it was an exercise of "let's see where this takes me". I saw some ducks scratching their heads so I had to animate it here
