my most unpopular opinion is probably that “if it’s good enough, spoilers won‘t ruin it for you anyway” is actually kinda mid & basic intellectualism, based on a trite model of narrative meaning as "content" to be decoded & appreciated cerebrally rather than *import* to be experienced dynamically
agreed and I also think anti-spoiler backlash has far exceeded its banks in general! “if it’s good enough, spoilers won‘t ruin it for you anyway” NO I want to experience the story at the intended pace and construct my own relationship with the narrative!!!
Back-cover-of-the-book text shouldn’t be allowed to spoil anything that happens in the second half of the book. Authors worked hard to put that stuff in that order!
