This week at an event for THE PEOPLE’S PROJECT, a reader asked in a gracious and cheeky way what I would hope white readers in particular would get out of the book. Or more directly, what I would TELL white readers. And this was basically my answer:

African-Americans are experts on America.
America should listen to Black people

I cannot stress enough how much media consolidation under billionaires is not only part of the discussion about censorship, it is THE discussion. Oligarchs don’t care about ideology, they care about money, and if a leader offers them unlimited wealth, they’ll sell their own mother out to get it

Hey, so you can absolutely feel tremendous empathy for the two young children who lost their father and sadness at more gun violence but simultaneously feel no empathy at all for the man who mocked and dehumanized vulnerable ppl and who manufactured and spread far right hate and propaganda
