I like Xenogears’ aesthetic style of 3D background models with sprites more than the HD-2D aesthetic of pixel textures on 3D models, I think the sense of scale and cutscene direction is better here.
If Square Enix ever makes a remake they should keep this style or go full 3D.

like my screen and keyboard freeze for multiple seconds and then the whole display suddenly updates with all the letters I “typed” on the frozen screen regularly
