I loved a lot about the Wicked duology, especially part one. But the problems of the show could only be fixed SO much. Variety gave me the chance to look at how far For Good goes with representation.

ICE agents violently detained another disabled person, causing severe injuries.

Arturo Ruvalcaba lives in Utah and is deaf.

Three ICE agents grabbed him at a bus stop.

He tried to use sign language to communicate his disability to them, and they interpreted that as “resisting arrest”.
A deaf Utah man says ICE agents injured him months ago and he’s still in pain. Now he’s suing.
A Utah man who is deaf says ICE agents discriminated against him and injured him, in what he says in a lawsuit was an unconstitutional search.

Great article from one of my favorite writers, @therebeccasun.bsky.social with great takeaways on the importance of quality storytelling; meaningful collaboration with authentic creatives; and discarding the "outsiders gaze"-an overused, boring cliche that is all too often a gateway to tropes.

We need more politicians like this treating people with disabilities as constituents AND as a key voting bloc.
While we’re rallying around Lander, who’s been a lock for my top 2 as long as he’s been in the race, I love this video he did about disability access on NYC transit
Whether visible or invisible, permanent or temporary, almost all of us will have or know someone with a disability.

As Mayor, I’ll fight like hell for truly accessible public transit.

A whole lot of folks keep forgetting about closed captions on DVDs, and as time has marched on this means they're getting less accessible.

Gotta be honest: I don't think Hollywood is taking the trade war/tariffs seriously.

But, you may say, Tariffs only impact about physical goods!

To which I say, "Hmmm." That's an assumption. If it turns out not to be true...watch out.
