It's crazy that the parent I'm no contact with sent me a connection request on LinkedIn. Like yes, this was the thing that was gonna change the tides. That's really gonna accomplish the healing needed to repair this relationship. 🙄

every yiddish student learns to introduce themselves by saying “I am called [name]” (כ׳הײס [נאָמען]) and i am only now learning that it is common to instead just tell a stranger ״THEY CALL ME [NAME]” (מיך רופֿט מען [נאָמען]) like some jewish cowboy of some renown

every yiddish student learns to introduce themselves by saying “I am called [name]” (כ׳הײס [נאָמען]) and i am only now learning that it is common to instead just tell a stranger ״THEY CALL ME [NAME]” (מיך רופֿט מען [נאָמען]) like some jewish cowboy of some renown
I got a pathology report from my surgery and not only did I receive a diagnosis that explains my problems, but also the surgery I had completed cured the issue. This was the best possible case for everything. I am validated and also don't have something hanging over me.

Do you ever do a really specific fuck up that's probably fine in the long term but feels so mortifying in the moment? Because I have just done something that I know will become long term grad student lore long after I'm gone.

Y'all, every time I go to the doctor my blood pressure is high. I know I've got bad white coat syndrome but also today for the first time a physician noticed that my feet were dangling because I'm too short for the chairs, found somewhere to rest my feet on and the reading was infinitely better...
