It’s about goddamn time!!!
"According to the…annual Harris Poll, for the 1st time, a majority of Americans believe billionaires are a threat to democracy. A remarkable 71% believe there should be a wealth tax. A majority believe there should be a cap on how much wealth a person can accumulate." www.nytimes.com/2025/12/14/o...

Wish this was not true.
Huge loss to our culture & discourse. The high quality of most everything he did raised the bar.

For millions of us, this was the first time we ever saw Rob Reiner. …When he became “Meathead” on “All in the Family.”

He was brilliant from Day One.

Wow—There were cat Crips & Bloods.
Struttin‘ around, smokin‘, cussin’, fightin’.
Eating all your casseroles & pies.
Then gone, nary a good-bye.

“Leopard cats may have enjoyed a life of semi-domestication in China for millennia…exploited food & shelter of farming communities…continued to roam free.”
I bet they still strutted around like they owned the world and acted like you should feel honored just to be in their presence.

Rob Reiner was one of the key people behind the effort to go to court to overturn California's anti-marriage equality Proposition 8 when it passed in 2008.

Working with Chad Griffin, they founded the American Foundation for Equal Rights and got Ted Olson and David Boies to team up to fight Prop 8.

If the sky
That we look upon
Should tumble and fall
Or the mountains
Should crumble to the sea
I won't cry
I won't cry
No I won't shed a tear
Just as long
As you stand
Stand by me

Rob Reiner, 1947-2025

A heartbreaking, devastating loss.

If only at a million zillion points, in which he could have been stopped, he was. Shame on all my (former) fellow Republicans. Shame on Mitch McConnell. Shame on SCOTUS. There is no place to stop. The blame is legion, with each culprit saying, "who me?".

What's striking about Trump's lies, and those of his apologists, is that they're not even plausible. They don't try to be plausible. As others have noted, that's kind of the point. True authoritarian control and power is telling a blatant and obvious lie, and showing you can get away with it.
Q: Can you explain what's going on with the bandages on Trump's hand?

LEAVITT: We've given you an explanation. The president is literally constantly shaking hands.

The bar is so low. The credentials are nonexistent.
What have either of these people done that would warrant attention? They are not experts in anything. They don't know anything in particular, have no particular skills, have not accomplished anything of particular note. They're just young women willing to say what old rich white men want to hear.
It's kind of unbelievable how hard Bari Weiss and CBS News have been pushing their interview with Erika Kirk. Just total propaganda.

The 21st-century pro-democracy progressive movement is in its infancy. But it’s here, and it’s growing, and because people are starting to wake up to what is wrong and what the *real* problems are, it’s getting stronger. And most importantly, it belongs to *us* not a political party. /6

Among the traits that appear to assist in wealth formation in a cowboy capitalist society is a ruthless lack of empathy or concern for others or for the negative consequences for others of your actions. ‘Scuse me if I’m less than impressed. Genius? innovation? Oft crushed. See Edwin Armstrong.
