Flying blind...
It is official. No CPI report for October. They will needs to impute some figures for the month when they estimate GDP as they need to deflate the GDP data and some components of PCE index are in the CPI.

Every member of Congress and frankly every American should denounce what Trump did today in suggesting members of Congress be executed.

It shouldn't even need to be said, but apparently does: it is beyond the pale for anyone to suggest such things, let alone the president of the united states.

Military family perspective here:
Abso-fucking-lutely.
If you receive an illegal order, you have a duty to disobey.

This isn’t controversial.

A President calling for the execution of anyone who reminds service members of this oath is showing us why the duty to disobey illegal orders is so important in the first place.

Grothman just tried to mansplain the 3/5th compromise to Kamlanger-Dove.
That's... a choice.

Didn't catch which one said it, but one of the R panelists just said "the census has no effect on democracy"

That's bold statement for a group trying to re-litigate 2020 for... it's effect on representation

Case in point: Miller literally just said the TIGER file is top secret.
Um...
I downloaded TIGER last week.
And while we all know I'm special, I'm not *that* special.

It's a revealing moment...

J.D. Vance welcomes a two-legged robot helping on the job site. But if that helper is a person named Jose, he calls it a threat. Same tasks, same productivity boost.

The inconsistency reveals this isn’t about economics.

OMFG. DoorDash's breakfast price index is based on...

(wait for it)

AVOCADO TOAST 🥑🥯🥚

(I wish I was kidding.)

They claim "three eggs, a glass of milk, a bagel, and an avocado" accurately "captures the average price of a basket of grocery items."

Notably absent: Coffee.

JFC
I mean, why would we need official statistics when a DoorDasher can bring it, lukewarm and possibly missing an item, to our door (and sometimes to our neighbor's door, but who's counting)?

As someone who is actually good at math, I reject the notion that it's a pass to be an asshole.
I think the belief by the powerful that "people will put up with many things if you are excellent at math" is incredibly revealing in terms of understanding How We Got Here

"What's the point of standards?"

Cool cool. Let's just have everything run on vibes. And why stop at journalism? Why not ditch standards (read: rules) in baseball? Education? Banking? The courts? Construction? Nursing?
I mean, standards are such a bummer. What could possibly go wrong without them?
“I’ve been hearing that standards will be eliminated or severely cut back. Bari has told people that she wants to get rid of standards and is shocked that they have so much power. She also asked openly, ‘What’s the point of standards?’” one CBS source said.
