The way the online Left deals with this is by convincing themselves that inevitably, "someday soon", the Dems will flip and become Keir Starmer Labour and start hunting trans folk for sport

Few if any mainstream/center-left parties are as good on trans rights as Democrats, and we don't do ourselves any favors by pretending otherwise.
This is the hardest I have seen any member of Congress work to try and address transphobia in Congress, and her ability to get nearly all Democratic lawmakers to sign onto this letter is something any first would applaud

The last time I saw this much "angry recriminations about failure in advance" was when people were telling me that Kilmar Abrego Garcia was for sure dead in El Salvador and Senator van Hollen would be Jonestown'd there
Everyone is convinced that there's some secret plan to wiggle out of this at the last second because the alternative—that there's such a total cascade failure of incompetence that they can only slouch vaguely forward toward announcing to the world that he absolutely did it—seems impossible.

Two years and two days ago, a woman delivered some chili to her new neighbors. Everyone was very happy and normal and there were no lasting effects.

I cannot overemphasize that Marjorie Taylor Greene, Carlson, and Fuentes see a 2028 path to victory that involves building an isolationist populist coalition that traffics heavily in antisemitism and exploits existing negative sentiment against Israel.

The fatal flaw with the people doing this from the Left - the people who keep talking like Robert Moses was still in action - is they have to argue that actually-existing working class areas are great places to live and we shouldn't change them
To repeat a tweet of mine: there's a policy that people are so so so so deeply attached to - the built environment will not change - that they don't even realize they are reasoning backward from their desired policy to a set of facts that would support it.
